Emergency alert!

There’s an emergency alert system in the Netherlands, originally designed and built to warn for air raids, but of course since used for all kind of OMG-WTF-BBQ messages. Since a large air horn is limited in what kind of content it can send, an emergency-extension to the SMS protocol was designed, so if you’ve got a mobile phone that understands it you will get an alert from it every first monday of the month at noon, since that’s when they test the system.

I had seen it in real action before when they sent out an amber alert for a missing kid, and I’m fine with that too… but imagine how bad the crowds must have been for this one:
