Pope says “no-one has done more” than Catholic Church to tackle child abuse

Pope Francis has defended the Roman Catholic Church saying ‘no-one has done more’ to root out paedophilia.

Walk into any crowded place, swing a cat, and you’re sure to hit ten people who have done more.

Then again, they also caused most of it in the first place, so they had more to do..

  1. Who knows how much they did behind closed doors. Maybe what’s publicly known is only a fraction.

  2. Read a fuller quote of his comments. Pfffff. Ugh.

  3. “No-one has done more” means nothing. In English at least the phrase is famous as weasel words. It’s a sign of bad faith imo. Just sayin’.

“Now that I’ve found Jesus, I don’t smoke dope no more…
(Don’t smoke it no less neither…)”

  4. This is a Catholic thing. It was their children that were being molested. I’m sure they’ll find relief in the pope’s words.

Russia Today Anchor Quits Live On Air Over “Whitewashed” Coverage Of Putin

RT responded as follows:

In response to the journalist’s on-air statement, the Russian TV channel said: “Contrary to the popular opinion, RT doesn’t beat its journalists into submission, and they are free to express their own opinions, not just in private but on the air.”

The broadcaster added that it would send Ms Martin to Crimea to “give her an opportunity to make up her own mind from the epicentre of the story”.

So far Ms. Martin has not taken up RT’s offer to provide unbiased reporting from the “epicenter” of the story.

Researchers Create Legal Botnet Abusing Free Cloud Service Offers

Posted on March 6th, 2014 at 15:04 by John Sinteur in category: News

Last week at the RSA Conference, a pair of researchers demonstrated how it was possible to legally create a botnet for free by abusing trial accounts made available by high-powered platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offerings.

“We were really easily able to get hundreds of boxes on certain providers and have a central way to launch things like massive port scans,” Ragan says. “We also did a proof-of-concept on cryptocurrency or Bitcoin mining. If you’re getting this free computing power and don’t have the power bill from it, why not use that to generate mining? That would be a huge motivation for malicious threat actors using these platforms.” The project was made possible through the development of a process to automate the creation of unique email accounts on free email services, and then special scripting to automate the process of clicking on email verification links sent to those accounts.

Ariz. lawmaker comes out: ‘I am gay, I’m a Latino, I’m a state senator and it’s OK’

Posted on March 6th, 2014 at 11:18 by John Sinteur in category: News

PHOENIX — Arizona state Sen. Steve Gallardo of Phoenix has come out as gay, becoming the third openly gay lawmaker in the Arizona state legislature.

Just a little more than a week after he delivered a rousing speech to activists protesting against an anti-gay religious freedom bill, Gallardo told a handful of reporters gathered at the state capitol on Wednesday that it’s time to announce his sexual orientation.

“I am gay, I’m a Latino, I’m a state senator and it’s OK,” he said.

Ballsy to come out of the closet – I hope being a Latino in Arizona doesn’t cause him any problems for this political career.
