Mitch McConnell Thinks You’re Stupid

Imagine, for a moment, that Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll were to go on ESPN with an unusual announcement about Sunday’s Super Bowl. He says his team will refuse to kick off to the Broncos unless the Broncos spot them a field goal in exchange.

“We’re not just going to give the other team the ball unless we get something significant in return,” imagine Carroll declaring. “It would be irresponsible for us to just give in to their request for the ball without getting at least three points attached to it.” Carroll says that unless the condition is met, the Seahawks aren’t even going to bother playing the game. They insist that if the Broncos won’t sit down and negotiate, it’ll be their own fault if the Super Bowl gets canceled.

  1. OMG I’m tired of this “Debt Ceiling” nonsense. The Debt Ceiling is just an alert to Congress that they need to deposit more money to fund the checks they’ve already written – because only Congress has the Constitutional authority to spend money.

However, playing on the ignorance of the average American, they spin it to sound like the President has personally maxxed out the national credit card, and must be stopped. In that metaphor, it’s more like Congress opened an account for their son, but then Congress themselves spent all the money out of it, and now they’re publicly calling him incompetent.

This is right up there with the latest Republican smooth lie, “Pension Smoothing”, in which they’re planning to deliberately cause losses both to US business and Federal tax income, but it’s ok, because it’s just beyond the 10-year window used by the CBO. Politics: derived from “poly” meaning “many”, and “ticks” meaning “disease-spreading blood-sucking parasites”.
