Church ‘welcomes’ legal action in Italian abuse cases

Posted on October 3rd, 2010 at 12:26 by John Sinteur in category: Pastafarian News

The Italian Catholic Church welcomes civil suites against priests for sexual abuse, according to Monsignor Mariano Crociata, secretary-general of the Italian Episcopal Conference.

"There will be no obstacles to civil proceedings. On the contrary, they would be viewed favourably," he told reporters on Friday following a Vatican City meeting of the Episcopal Conference.

Favourable compared to criminal proceedings, of course. Because those are only accepted in latin.

  1. Maybe Latin masses are headed for a comeback then! that’s appropriately retro; it goes well with using every option to prevent criminal prosecutions, or basic human decency, from bringing the RC church into the modern era (or respecting teachings of that Jesus Christ character more than those of self-serving popes).

Also, the USA does have this thing called RICO which should be relevant to these paedophile rackets, at least to the extent they’ve been active in the U.S. …

ADT shows how easy it is to break into your home by breaking into your home.

(click image, via) This is the creepiest of Ad Creeps! Do you like your advertising invasive? Well, it doesn’t get more invasive than this ADT stunt created by the Santiago, Chile office of ad agency DDB. I guess ADT or DDB minions invaded apartment buildings all over the Chilean capital and slid these rubberband spring-loaded boxes under dwellers’ doors. On the box was the ADT logo and the line: "Breaking into your apartment is easier than you think." That’ll get your attention/piss you the fuck off. Video below.

Why sloppy foreclosure process could ruin Florida

Posted on October 3rd, 2010 at 9:00 by John Sinteur in category: Robber Barons

At best, the foreclosure process in Florida is beyond sloppy. At worst, it may suffer from serious fraud. Left unchecked, a growing chorus of critics warns this cancer may have sweeping consequences.

Here’s a big one: Title insurance companies may be scared away from offering "clear title" guarantees on foreclosed homes. That would throw into doubt who actually owns many thousands of houses — those going into foreclosure and those purchased out of foreclosure — all across the state.

Who’s going to buy a home if they don’t have a guarantee that they will legally own it?

If the courts finally acknowledge that many foreclosure documents are inaccurate, people who have bought thousands of foreclosed homes may have to reassert their legal ownership. Some former owners already pushed out of their homes by foreclosure proceedings could find they still own their houses, only to face a second round of foreclosure just to get the ownership documentation right.
