Guardian of the Secret Annex

“I am not a hero, I stand at the end of the long, long line of good Dutch people who did what I did and more — much more — during those dark and terrible times years ago, but always like yesterday in the heart of those of us who bear witness.”

  1. Any comment I could write would not do justice to Mrs. Gies and the countless others who did the same. I can only hope that we will never witness such dark times again and that when we will, I will be able to do the same.

  2. Bless her and all like her. Even today, my niece, a professional Latina actress, is staging “The Diary of Anne Frank” in Mexico City. It has been a very successful production there. May the world never forget!

  3. No, she was a hero. Perhaps she felt throughout her life that she failed in protecting them. What a burden to carry for so many years. May she rest in peace.
